Anton Nowels is an accomplished artist with recognition on a national level. His work was included in the 2019 American Impressionist Societys National Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club in New York and will be in the 2020 National Exhibition at the Illume Gallery in Southern Utah. He also showed work in the 2019 and 2020 Oil Painters of America Western Regional Exhibitions. He was most recently juried into the 2020 OPA Salon Show and the ?rst AIS Online Juried Exhibition. Nowels won Best in Show at the 2019 Arizona Plein Air Painters Juried Members Show judged by Mitch Baird. In 2018 he won Second Place at the Scottsdale Artists Schools Best and Brightest Show. Additionally, he won First Place at the 2017 Bisbee Plein Air Festival. Nowels has been practicing art since 2000. His ?rst solo show was at age 24 on Grand Avenue in downtown Phoenix. In 2007 he was juried into a solo exhibition at Burton Barr Public Librarys Central Gallery. He continued to show work in downtown Phoenix before returning to Arizona State University to ?nish his BA in 2008. His work is experimental by nature and is re?ective of his Interdisciplinary Art and Performance degree. Nowels is a local workshop instructor at the prestigious Scottsdale Artists School. His workshop and artwork explore the Impressionist approaches taught by Charles Hawthorne, Henry Hensche, and Sergei Bongart. He enjoys painting a variety of subjects and experimenting with painting techniques. Nowels is represented by the Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts in Mt. Carmel, Utah. He is an Associate Member of Oil Painters of America, a member of the American Impressionist Society, and a Juried Member of Arizona Plein Air Painters.
