Biography

Jessica Cross is a contemporary traditional oil painter inspired by the beauty of horses. She grew up with them, and they have always been a place of peace for her. She finds that when she is not riding, she best experiences this peace while painting them. Cross creates realistic paintings that capture moments of serenity and strength. While attending college, she learned the foundations of traditional art. Her process involves a high degree of edge control while using thin layers to establish light and shadow. The goal of each painting is to evoke the same sense of awe she feels when she is with horses and hopes that her viewers experience this as well.
Cross’ work has most recently been shown in the AR Mitchell’s Unbridled: All-Women Western Art Juried Exhibition.
