Biography

Faye Crowe is an emerging artist, a visionary and award-winning Colorado Architect. She was strongly influenced by artists during her training as an architect. She has always set the goal to combine art and architecture with her designs.
Born into a family of 5 children of engineers and mathematician/artist for a mother, Faye’s decision to become an architect was established in 5th grade with an art teachers influence that taught the class to draw buildings and landscape perspectives. She immediately went home and informed her parents that she was going to be an architect. Her family moved to Arizona from Ohio when she was in high school and it was at ASU that she studied architecture. After college Faye moved to the mountains of Colorado.
The combination of her studies in art and architecture has continued to influence her work as an architect and artist. She has developed a fearless approach to her art combining various materials, media, textures and processes to create movement and dynamics even within her paintings.
“Art and architecture seem to be a natural complement. Since architecture can be very exacting – I tend to gravitate to an interpretational and expressionistic style to my paintings — I love the use of bold color and reflective light. I strive to capture the mood and energy of the subject by reflecting the feel of the moment with quick initial paintings.”
Colorado’s built environment and natural landscape are an inspiration for both her art and architecture work. After growing up in Ohio she is appreciative and aware of the western landscape. Her architecture and design background also gives her a unique vision of Colorado combining some of the natural and human environments within her work.
Faye lives in Golden, CO where she raised her 3 children who all love the outdoors equally as much as she does. Her youngest son Landon graduated from Colorado School of Mines and is quite the techie, but now collects art after realizing how good his apartment looks when he replaced his posters with her original oil paintings. Her oldest son Loren has his own art and auto business, and her daughter Alyssa is in the creative multimedia business. Faye is continually developing her art and working in alternative media and design and builds custom artwork for specific installations. She has a studio in Golden, CO and you can find her art in Colorado and Arizona.
