Albert Tucci

Biography

Al Tucci was born and raised in Westchester County, New York. He attended the prestigious Goodman School of Drama at the Art Institute of Chicago. After receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Chicago, Tucci went on to have a thirty-eight-year career in professional theatre training and as a freelance United Scenic Artist Union designer. Early in his education Al Tucci met the renowned fashion and theatre designer Erte. That meeting inspired him to teach. Then to dedicate his life to training future theatre artists. Al headed programs or departments and schools at the: University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, West Virginia University, Northern Illinois University, and The University of Arizona. In the last thirty years of Al’s career he produced hundreds of plays and theatrical seasons. Al was always proud to have the opportunity to teach and design.

Al Tuci has designed museum exhibitions and gallery installations that have focused on clothing, fashion and theatrical design. The majority of his theatrical designs and productions are in Albert D. Tucci Costume Design Collection in Special Collections at the Richardson Library at DePaul University in Chicago). Al’s work has been shown at the: Four Corners Gallery Tucson Desert Art Museum, The Mountain Oyster Club, Southern Arizona Arts Guild Gallery, the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild Gallery, Tucson Sheraton Hotel, Jane Hamilton Gallery, Tucson, Carol Curry Gallery, Tubac, the Tubac Center of the Arts, the Milwaukee Art Museum, The Art Institute of Tucson, and Toscana Gallery.
