Linda Short

Biography

Linda Short is a scratchboard/clayboard artist, working with blades, knives, and needles with an occasional splash of alcohol ink mixed in. Each hair meticulously etched into the clay, pieces may take a week and sometimes months until they are complete.

Her grandparents came west, homesteaded in Montana and the family still works this ground today. Herds of cattle can be seen grazing the prairie, where all is quiet till a calf bawls for its mamma. Wildlife from coyotes to prairie chickens abound. Linda is inspired by Montana’s vast landscape and wildlife. Linda’s goal is to simplify the surroundings which is offset by very intimate details, drawing the viewer ever closer.
