Mary Michael

Biography

Since she was a little child, Mary had always had an eye for creativity. She engaged in all activities and filled her and her children’s lives with love and adventure. Mary’s passion for sculpting began in 1989 when she enrolled in a YMCA program on the fundamentals of the art. She started experimenting and worked on projects for a couple of years. She had several people ask if they could get her work bronzed and this brought up a whole new chapter of her career.

She met Bob Burkhart at his foundry, who would become a lifelong friend. Bob introduced her to Jeff Wolf, who hosted his seminars at the foundry. After attending her first lesson, she quickly became a regular. Working with Jeff provided her with the tools she needed to launch her art career. She continued to work with Jeff until he could no longer assist her, at which point she decided to strike out on her own.

Mary has now completed numerous pieces of various sizes. Her two exquisite bronzes, which are sizable sculptures of Sacajawea, have enhanced culture in Three Forks and Livingston, Montana for the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial. She has contributed numerous significant works to people’s homes and frequently attends art events to exhibit her work.
