Lauri Ketchum

Biography

Lauri was born and raised in Ada, OK. She and her husband lived in numerous states after marrying in 1988, but the journey eventually led back home. Lauri has agricultural roots, which has greatly influenced her work. She began painting after raising two children and retiring from careers in business and public education. Lauri is self-taught, but attended, and still attends, many workshops by artists she admires.

Lauri’s lifelong love affair with the American cowboy and the Old West fuels her concentration on western art. Livestock and working cowboys find their way onto her canvas more often than not, but she is also inspired by wildlife, and the Native American people and their culture. Today, Lauri resides in Durant, OK, and paints daily in her home studio. Her art is in collections throughout the United States, and in Canada.
