Fritz Kapraun

Fritz Kapraun received a Ph.D. in botany from the University of Texas at Austin. His career includes more than 35 years teaching at the university level as well as an active research program developing marine bio-products as renewable resources. Presently, he is Professor Emeritus of Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

In addition, he devotes much time to architectural portraits of homes, both historic and contemporary.

He is a contributing illustrator for This Old House, Southern Living, Retirement Living, and Coastal Living magazines. He pursues his fascination with architecture by frequent working vacations to the American Southwest and Europe. He has been an instructor in the La Romita (Terni, Italy) art program for seven years.
