Denise F. Gilroy

Biography

Denise Gilroy was born and raised on the East Coast spending her summers in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. The mountains are where she developed her love for the rural lifestyle and the outdoors. As a young adult she left the East Coast to explore the country and landed in California’s picturesque Sierra Nevada mountains where she made her home for almost 30 years before taking another leap to Northern Idaho. The common theme throughout was a desire to lead a creative life surrounded by beauty.

While the idea of painting on location is the ultimate for landscape paintings, that is not always possible during Northern Idaho winters. Most of her paintings are inspired from plein air experiences, some painted on location and others in the warmth of her studio. Northern Idaho has proved itself as one of the most beautiful places to live providing plenty of subject matter.
