Biography
Tamara Sigler loves the colorful prairie grasses, red dirt, and rolling thunderstorms where she was raised. She has spent years adventuring in her home state of Oklahoma and exploring the beauty of the Southwest and Rocky Mountain States. Drawn by the landscape colors and expansive views yet forever pulled by the myriad details along a trail, it is often these trailside treasures, rocks and wildflowers, that form a structure for “lively” elements in the artist’s still life scenes.
After receiving her BFA, Tamara entered a career in web design and digital imaging, painting at nights and weekends. Now able to devote energies to painting full time, it is clear the years of design, illustration and exploration form a strong foundation for her work. Her art reflects the strong colors and patterns inspired by her home and her travels and showcase a contemporary approach to composition along with a love and respect for traditional painting techniques.
Tamara is a member of Oil Painters of America, Signature and Board member of National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, and a Cherokee Nation artist. Her work has shown in the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum’s Small Works Great Wonders, and the Butler Museum of Art. Juried shows, include the NOAPS Best of America Small Works International, Bosque Art Classic, Heroes and Outlaws, Oil Painters of America’s Western Regional and OPA Eastern Regional Exhibition, which awarded her the Animal Award of Excellence. Other top awards include Best of Show for “Trail’s End”, Bauhaus Prairie Gallery’s Master Artist Award, and the Rusty Gables’ Native Star Award. She is included in Linda Millier Bosteels’s book The Spirit of the Buffalo.
