Born in 2006 in Houston, Texas, Eliza has loved art ever since she would observe her grandfather, who was also an artist. Eliza learned the basic fundamentals of art from Ms. Betsy Miller at Colors of the Heart Studio. Her passion for art and interest in the American West grew through competing in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) school art competition, where her artwork was selected for auction several times. After her first year of high school, she received a scholarship to attend the Western Art Academy (WAA) in Kerrville, Texas. At WAA, Eliza discovered her love for oil painting, which has since become her primary medium. Eliza has participated in several events through the Oil Painters of America, including their Western Regional exhibitions, annual Student Art Competitions, and National Exhibitions. In 2024, Southwest Art Magazine selected her for their “21 Under 31” feature. She has also been part of the annual Roundup Sale and Exhibition at the Museum of Western Art in Kerrville as well as the Cowgirl Up! Exhibition at the Sigler Western Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona. This fall, Eliza will have her work featured in the 2026 Resonance Show at the A.R. Mitchell Museum in Trinidad, Colorado. Eliza currently attends the University of Texas at Austin, where she majors in Mathematics. She continues to paint and improve her skills in the pursuit of becoming a professional western and figurative painter. To Eliza, art is one of the most powerful acts of communication that we have to tell stories about our human experiences.
