Biography
Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Charles Cashwell studied Illustration at the Ringling School of Art & Design. Following the 2008 financial crash, Cashwell shifted his focus from portraiture to painting the Southwest. In 2009 he relocated to Taos, New Mexico, where he lived for three years and immersed himself in the region’s rich culture and dramatic scenery. This period marked a turning point in his work, as he developed a distinct style that fuses modern and impressionistic approaches to his paintings.
Now based in Georgia, Cashwell continues to paint the Southwest, returning often to Taos to reconnect with the land and people that profoundly influence his work. His paintings are celebrated for their vibrant color palettes and dynamic brushwork.
