Biography

Lloyd painted intermittently since childhood without formal training until 2003. In 2003 Lloyd became a student of Richard Skurla, owner of the Silver Maple Gallery, and studied with Richard and other artists for the next six years. Since 2009 Lloyd has directed his focus full time to his art in a studio on his ranch. Lloyd’s love of the outdoors and ranch life has begun to shine in his latest compositions. Raised in a family dedicated to preserving the farm and ranch lifestyle, he presents an insight and appreciation of Western Art on a personal, day to day level. Lloyd and his wife, Teresa, in addition to working their own livestock enjoy every opportunity to visit other ranches. They also admire old architecture and visit many historical towns throughout Texas. This not only gives Lloyd the inspiration to paint outdoors, but to paint old structures in different light and angles. The colors and values come to life on canvas. Lloyd’s choice of medium is oils and with a wide variety of brush strokes and palette knife, his goal is to furnish collectors and admirers a tranquil enjoyment of his compositions with an occasional WOW factor. His compositions have been in several juried shows throughout Texas and the USA, in which he has placed Best in Show, first, second, third, honorable mention, artists’ & people’s choice awards. The past ten years Lloyd has served as a juror for the Region XII Visual Arts Scholastic Event Invitation for the Central Texas area. Lloyd has also been a judge for the Bosque Arts Club in Clifton Texas, of which he and his wife are now members of the Bosque Arts Center. Lloyd was selected into the prestigious Western Artists Of America association in 2011, in 2013 he became a member of the Western Associates, in 2019 Lloyd was selected into the International Guild of Realism, American Plains Artists, and is a emeritus member of the Western Artists Roundup.
