Nathan Solano’s relationship with art began at an early age. However, he didn’t begin a professional painting career until his 40s. Solano was born in Utah and raised in Colorado, his father a coal miner and his mother from a family of coal miners and farmers. He attended the University of Colorado for a short time. Then, he enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve as an infantry sergeant in the Vietnam War. Upon discharge, Solano briefly returned to school before entering the workforce in various trades. His artistic career began when he joined an advertising agency as an illustrator. In Colorado and Florida, he has served as an illustrator, photographer and art director for a number of agencies. Solano began his full-time painting career with his move to Colorado, where he currently resides.
