Ruben Nieto has a long history in the art world, beginning with first award in grade school in California. Continuing to develop his talent through high school and the military, he then attended San Francisco School of Fine Art and the Art Center of Design in Los Angeles. This led to a successful career in Commercial Art for 30 years in Chicago. But, there was a longing interest and quest for the Southwest. Retiring from the business and city world, he moved to southern Arizona. The Greenhorn from Chicago signed on as a working ranch hand near the Mexico border. Here he delved into ranch life and branded, bronco bucked, and broke his first mustang at the age of 55. This time gave him the opportunity to research true Western, cowboy life for his paintings.
