Marilyn McCrindle grew up in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California. She came to Tucson in 1954 to attend the University of Arizona and has been here ever since. The early years were busy with family. While enjoying and appreciating art, especially that of natural landscapes, she never considered taking up a brush herself. Then in 1980, she took a watercolor class and was hooked on the process of creating a scene via brush and paint. Next was a workshop using oil paint and that became the medium of choice.
In the years to follow, she attended local workshops, Scottsdale School of Art workshops and Workshops in So California. She became a member of Desert Artisans and Tucson Plein Air Painters. She frequently showed and sold her work in local Art Festivals and other art events. Then the time came in 2003, when it was necessary to set painting aside while working as a full time Realtor. Upon retirement in 2019, painting has once again become a passion. About this same time, the Covid 19 appeared, requiring staying home and what better thing to do during this time than paint. Marilyn is currently taking an online class via the Tucson Art Academy with Mitch Baird. She is looking forward to continuing to grow as an artist.
