Sandra has a studio in the desert country of Eastern Oregon and another off the beaten path in the Selkirk Mountains of North Eastern Washington. She travels much of the western wild country with her large Doberman at her side, gathering the reference photos of animals, birds and landscapes that she uses in her works of art in Scratchboard, Oils and Graphite Pencil.
The rest of the time is spent in the studio creating or traveling to attend shows. She is a published author and has written several Scratchboard instructional books and working on stories about her adventures as an artist. Sandra is currently exploring the endless possibilities of graphite and pan pastels on Duralar Drafting Film, using both additive and subtractive methods to create her images.
Recent juried awards include the Nancy McLaughlin Award for Excellence in Diversity at the Oldfield Show in Puyallup, Washington, along with Best of Show, Mixed Media Miniatures, at the same show. She has been juried Best of Show, Drawn Media, several times and Artists Choice at the Western Heritage Show in Great Falls, Montana and is a juried Signature member of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists.
