Donna Dutra

Biography

Donna Dutra is a pastel artist specializing in wildlife and domestic animals residing in Northern California.

“I started drawing as a child and at age 16 I sold my first graphite drawing of a horse out of a gallery in Folsom CA. I did not pursue art any further at that time as I was young and impressionable and listened to those who would say that art is a field for men and that I would never be able to make a living as an artist. I dabbled in art on and off over the years at times selling a piece here or there and doing a commission here or there. Recently I decided that it is now or never to pursue my life’s dream. I picked my pastels up and started entering juried shows in 2017. As a result, my art started to win various awards. This built my confidence and in 2018 after being accepted into the art show I set up my first art booth at the Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley, CA. I then got accepted into the Phippen Museum Western Art Show and Sale where I set up a booth. Since then, I have been accepted and invited to do several shows. My more recent work depicts the Western Lifestyle and my love for horses and the cowboy/cowgirl way of life.”
